Larry Ross – Speedway Legend

Today I came across a very interesting article in the Speedway Star about the legendary Larry Ross and his racing career.

It includes his traumatic eyewitness report on the Christchurch Earthquake which hit New Zealand in 2011. His wild experience of that terrifying time struck me as vaguely reminiscent of our 1987 Hurricane though sadly even more destructive and with a greater loss of life.

These Speedway stories from the past put you back with the greats – Ivan Mauger and the one and only Barry Briggs, legends of the Shale and all from Christchurch.

Check out the full article in the Speedway Star, Week Ending November 15, 2014 – here.

I am hoping for a continuation of this series and hopefully England legend Kelvin Tatum will feature. He rode for the last London team, The London Lions at the old Hackney Wick which my brother and I used to take our children to regularly.
