ART – Ronald Searle, Coming Home

Ruskin Gallery @ Cambridge School of Art

Open until 19th November 2015

Sorry to let you know so late, but if you can get along to the Ruskin Gallery before 19th November it will be a worthwhile and inspirational visit.

Ronald Searle’s unique ink drawings lean towards the classics in their sense of scale and execution like the masters of yesteryear – an amazing draughtsman of epic proportion and always humorous. It’s what he leaves out of his drawings, which seems to create a grand sense of space.

The exhibition has one amazing Ralph Steadman line-and-wash who, along with the great Gerald Scarfe, probably represents the strength of English drawing unmatched for its originality during the 20th Century and beyond.

Searle’s exhibition catalogue is available through the Ruskin Gallery website.

An associated exhibition at the Fitzwilliam Gallery runs until the 23rd January 2016. Don’t miss it!

P.S. Ronald Searle’s St Trinian’s book illustrations are what he is probably most known and famous for.
